Magnus Vikström

I am a licensed psychologist from Stockholm University, and I am here to provide you with the support you need to unlock your full potential as a human being in your life.
I have practical experience from the field of adult psychiatry in Uppsala. In recent years, I have worked as a program coordinator for the No Mind Festival at Ängsbacka course center. I have facilitated courses in personal development and group processes, as well as conducted numerous workshops in free-form dance styles like contact improvisation. In my free time, I am a member of a band with my neighbors, residing in a rural community in Uruguay.

I am open to your story.

I live in Uruguay in a countryside community with my family and friends.

My interests include singing and playing music with some neighbors in our band, free dance forms like contact improvisation and personal and spiritual development.

Your Partner in Self-Discovery:

As a therapist, I am open-minded, inquisitive, and empathetic. My goal is to collaborate with you to help you understand yourself and your life’s possibilities.

My way of work.

My studies and my experience allow me to build on the following basic elements.

PDT

My therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy (PDT), which involves a comprehensive exploration of your identity on multiple levels. We examine your everyday relationships, the relationships that have shaped you in the past, and what surfaces during our therapeutic encounters. We delve into your emotions, thoughts, and bodily sensations. These elements can guide you toward the direction you desire, but they can also serve as obstacles and barriers to positive or liberating emotions. When these barriers are unveiled, they may initially evoke feelings of discomfort, akin to breaking through forbidden territory, and the anxiety that surfaces when these blockages are challenged.

I also incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, where we examine various sub-personalities active within you. These sub-personalities often find themselves in conflict with one another, seemingly causing disruptions in our lives. By connecting with these sub-personalities, allowing them to express themselves, be heard, and understood for their well-intentioned purposes, we can come into closer contact with our true selves or essential selves and become more present and charismatic.

Additionally, I offer Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), where we delve deeper into a central relationship in your life and work on it. Achieving freedom, strength, and emotional authenticity in one relationship often leads to similar outcomes in how we relate to others in general.
